Dr. Federico Gonzalez

Federico Gonzalez grew up in a small community outside of Boston. His single-parent mother raised 5 sons, all of whom went on to college. In his youth, Dr. Gonzalez played college basketball and earned a black belt in tae kwon do. Dr. Gonzalez worked in a research laboratory at Harvard Medical School during the day and attended college classes at night before being accepted to medical school. While a student at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, he was honored with the Lange Student Book Award and a Kaiser Scholarship.

Dr. Gonzalez trained in general surgery at LSU Medical Center before returning to University of Massachusetts Medical for plastic surgery residency training. He then completed fellowships in microsurgery, hand surgery, and aesthetic surgery before being appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. In 1993 Dr. Gonzalez moved to Kansas City to assume the directorship of the UMKC Plastic Surgery Program and subsequently served as an Associate Professor at KU Medical Center. Dr. Gonzalez has shared authorship in more than 50 book chapters, scientific articles, and presentations. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Gonzalez first became interested in genital rejuvenation surgery nearly 20 years ago when patients presented requesting labiaplasty. Many of these patients had seen numerous gynecologists and plastic surgeons who told them their concerns weren’t valid. With time and experience, Dr. Gonzalez became an expert in vaginal rejuvenation surgical techniques. He has refined the labiaplasty procedure and developed the Custom Flask Labioplasty, which achieves excellent results for a variety of labia minora hypertrophy problems. The technique, which has been published in an international plastic surgery journal, utilizes precise measurements to gain natural, symmetrical results with minimal or no evidence of the surgical scars. One significant advantage of the Custom Flask Labiaplasty is that it can address, in addition to asymmetry, excess tissue in the superior, middle, or lower portions of the labia minora. This technique is specifically designed so that it can be combined with clitoral unhooding surgery simultaneously without significant addition to the incision lines. This is the most advanced technique for labiaplasty now existing.
