Richard Bensimon, M.D.

Dr. Richard Bensimon is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Over the course of his 20 plus year career, he has been a pioneer in developing innovative techniques to achieve superior results for his patients. Adapting the artful approach he employs in complex and delicate eyelid surgery, Dr. Bensimon has perfected a new technique for vaginal cosmetic surgery called Contour Preserving Labiaplasty. In contrast to the more common approach of amputating excess skin, this technique corrects the problem of excess labia minora tissue while preserving the natural contours of the complex labial folds. The Contour Preserving Labiaplasty is individualized to each patient's specific anatomical needs and all incisions are carefully placed to give the most natural looking result with a more gentle recovery.
He regularly collaborates with specialized gynecologic surgeon Richard Rosenfield, MD in complex pelvic floor reconstructions.

Dr. Richard Rosenfield is a Board Certified Gynecologist and has been practicing medicine in Oregon since 2000. Dr. Rosenfield trained at Stanford University and has extensive experience in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, including pelvic floor reconstruction for prolapse correction and correction of urinary incontinence. Dr. Rosenfield has lectured nationally and internationally about surgical techniques in Gynecology. His knowledge of functional pelvic anatomy allows for anatomical restoration and rejuvenation when combining vaginoplasty and other prolapse operations with Dr. Richard Bensimon's Contour Preserving Labiaplasty.

ABOUT
Dr. Richard Bensimon has been a practicing plastic surgeon for over 20 years. After completing his surgical residency at the prestigious Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, Dr. Bensimon volunteered his time to serve as the surgical director of a refugee camp hospital on the Thailand-Cambodian border. Upon his return to New York, he completed an in-depth plastic surgery fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Bensimon has extensive experience in all aspects of cosmetic surgery and frequently lectures both nationally and internationally on his innovative techniques. Prior to joining Pearl Women's Center, Dr. Bensimon directed a successful plastic surgery center on the East coast until being recruited to create the Plastic Surgical Department at Pearl Women's Center. This unique blending of the skills of a progressive plastic surgeon and a visionary gynecologist to provide a comprehensive approach to genital reconstructive and cosmetic surgery provides Pearl Women's Center patients with a level of care not often found in other settings.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bensimon has been a true innovator in his field. He pioneered a "skin-sparing mastectomy" for improved breast reconstruction in cancer patients and was one of the first surgeons to report this technique in leading surgical journals. His commitment to the best treatment of breast cancer has led to the development of an outpatient mastectomy and breast reconstruction program at Pearl Women's Center, one of the first in this country. As an internationally renowned educator and author, Dr. Bensimon is an expert in the Hetter Peel, a state-of-the-art procedure that effectively corrects textural aging changes of the skin.

Dr. Bensimon enjoys international travel and exploring the outdoors. He is an avid skier, scuba diver, windsurfer, sailor, and bicyclist. He is a collector and supporter of local artists, appreciates gourmet food and collects fine wines from around the world.

About
Dr. Richard Rosenfield has been practicing medicine in Oregon since 2000. After completing his residency training at Stanford University Hospital, he moved with his wife, Lynne, to Portland. Simply stated, they fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Rosenfield is widely known for his minimally invasive approaches to surgical procedures. He has lectured nationally and internationally about the outpatient approach to hysterectomy, robotic surgery in gynecology, fertility and sterility, and the Essure method of permanent contraception. He has pioneered new techniques and surgical approaches in the field of Gynecology.

Dr. Rosenfield is active in the Portland metropolitan community as a business owner and educator, lecturing frequently about Gynecology Topics. His passion for women’s healthcare is evident as part of the Medical Advisory Committee of Komen of Oregon. His dedication to improving the quality of patient care worldwide led Dr. Rosenfield to found SURGiVIEW.com, an online, video based community where surgeons share their surgical experiences, techniques and best practices. He also finds time to be an active member of the executive board of the Pearl District Business Association.

Dr. Rosenfield and his wife Lynne love the outdoors, enjoy hiking, skiing, SCUBA diving, and traveling, as well as spending time with their two children, Gabe and Peri. Dr Rosenfield also enjoys playing guitar in his free time.
